The first CSIR, now CSIRO, building on the University campus.
In 2001 it was named after Prof Thorburn Brailsford Robertson (1884- 1930), Chair of Physiology at the University 1919-1926, and Chair of Physiology and Biochemistry 1926-1930.
A distinguished graduate of the University, Robertson was instrumental in making insulin more available and affordable for Australians. In 1927 he was asked to form the CSIR Division of Animal Nutrition.
The building is an excellent example of the classical red brick buildings preferred by the University architect, Walter Hervey Bagot.
