1950 - Ullin Place appointed as Lecturer in Psychology in the Department of Philosophy
1956 - Department of Psychology set up as separate from Department of Philosophy
1957 - Arthur Meadows appointed senior lecturer and head of psychology; Sydney Lovibond, Laurence Brown and David Gibbs appointed as lecturers
1958 - Ronald Penny appointed as Lecturer
1959 - Malcolm Jeeves appointed as Professor of Psychology and arrives in Adelaide in 1960; Arthur Meadows leaves
1961 - Lambros Houssiadas appointed
1962 - Francis Dalziel, Anthony Winefield appointed. Readership in Psychology establised and Kenneth Provins appointed (also to be Deputy vice-Chancellor, 1975-1980). Dr Peter Glow, Senior Lecturer

1967 - Douglas Vickers and Donald McNichol appointed
1969 - Alan Traviss Welford becomes Professor of Psychology. John Brebner appointed as lecturer.
1972 - John Kaye appointed as lecturer. A research fellowship is established on the initiative of Alan Welford in partnership with Bedford Industries in Panorama
1974 - Ted Nettelbeck and Neil Kirby appointed as tenured lecturers. Diploma in Applied Psychology, a new fourth-year program, established. Inara Proske appointed as first tenured female academic - senior tutor
1975 - John Michael Innes appointed as lecturer (promoted to Reader in 1981 and later becomes Executive Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences)
1979 - (Chris)topher Cooper elected Chair of Psychology
1988 - Eric Rump elected Chair of Psychology
1991 - A/Professor John /Brebner elected
1992 - Chris Cooper re-elected (until 1999)
1993 - Martha Augoustinos first woman to be appointed to a tenured lectureship
1994 - Jane Mathias, Amanda LeCouteur and Lynn Ward appointed to tenured lectureship
1997 - Transfer from the Faculty of Arts to the Faculty of Health Sciences, now Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences
2000 - John Eaton Taplin appointed Chair of Psychology
2001 - Disability Research Unit established within the Department
2004 - Ted Nettleback succeeds Taplin as head of Department. Unexpected death of Professor Douglas Vickers, deputy head
2005 - Dr Peter Strelan appointed
2006 - Department becomes School of Psychology. Dr Dan Navarro and Carolyn Semmler appointed. Celebration of Golden Jubilee. Plans for new Graduate Diploma in Psychology
