Geoffrey Fincher is a cereal chemist renowned for his work on the structure, biosynthesis and digestion of plant cell walls. Among his discoveries were numerous enzymes involved in the synthesis and degradation of cell wall polysaccharides of barley.
He is Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Plant Cell Walls.
Between 2003 and 2010 he was Director of the Waite Agricultural Research Institute and Deputy CEO of the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics.
