Anna was the first student to graduate from La Trobe University with a major in Women’s Studies (1988), and subsequently completed her PhD in the Centre for Women’s Studies and Gender Research at Monash University. Having been located in Gender Studies departments throughout her academic career, she is committed to Gender Studies and Feminist Theory as disciplinary areas in their own right. In her teaching in the department of Gender Studies and Social Analysis (since 2007) she has focused on postcolonial and intersectional approaches, complementing her research on refugees and human trafficking. She recently completed an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Adelaide, for which she received a Dean’s Commendation.
