She went on to develop a career in health, teaching and researching in public health, gender studies and anthropology at the University of Adelaide and Durham University (UK). Her inspiration comes from collaborative intellectual endeavours, and she cites her greatest academic achievements as supporting young women to develop their careers and the impact of her work in changing what we thought we knew about anorexia.
