VIGNETTE
Completed in 2017, the Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences building brings together more than 1,700 students and 600 health researchers in a facility designed to transform the way students learn, enhance their experience, and prepare future healthcare leaders for professional practice.
The $246 million building, situated at the western end of North Terrace, is in the heart of the South Australian Health and Biomedical Precinct—the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. It stands alongside the new Royal Adelaide Hospital and the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.
As the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences’ flagship teaching and research facility, it is home to the Adelaide Medical School, Adelaide Nursing School, Adelaide Dental School, Adelaide Dental Hospital, and the Adelaide Health Simulation Laboratory.
The building is a vibrant and innovative environment where learning and discovery work hand-in-hand. It’s also home to the University’s Clinical Research Facility where many health clinical trials are facilitated.
The central location and shared facilities inspire collaboration between staff, researchers and students across health disciplines. Its unique next generation spaces help today’s learners become tomorrow’s experts.
