Vignette 112: Little Theatre
VIGNETTE
The Little Theatre, conceived by Ralph Middenway and designed by architect Robert Dickson, opened in 1974 and celebrates its 50th birthday in 2024.
After the demolition of Union Hall in 2010, the Little Theatre became the home of most University of Adelaide Theatre Guild productions and remains so to this day.
The theatre is located on the North Terrace Campus, in the south-western corner of The Cloisters, next to the Unibar.
The theatre is an intimate space. Amphitheatre style raked seating surrounds the main stage, leaving no barrier between the audience and the performers. That intimacy makes the Little Theatre one of the most unique and exciting performance spaces in South Australia.
