Vignette 111: Unibar
VIGNETTE
The UniBar has connected people through music for more than five decades. It is the longest-running licensed premise on a university campus in South Australia.
UniBar opened in 1972 and was initially located upstairs in the Union Building. After moving to a new ground level home in the Cloisters, Union House in 2019, there is locally produced food to eat and craft beer to drink. Most importantly, there’s still an abundance of live music on offer.
For over 50 years, the UniBar has played a significant part in the lives of many students and music loving locals, hosting homegrown musicians as well as big national and international acts. These acts included: Blink 182, Silverchair, Tash Sultana, Parkway Drive, Powderfinger, Violent Soho, Dune Rats and You Am I.
In 2022, the UniBar was recognised for its contribution to live music in South Australia and inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame. Music is a universal language, connecting people from all walks of life. The UniBar is proud to offer a space where people can listen or play, supporting local music and community.
