Vignette 30: A culture of student philanthropy

There is a strong culture of student philanthropy within our community, showing a loyal commitment from students and staff, to support the University’s growth. This culture of giving back is not limited to isolated events. It encompasses a wide range of activities, from music gigs to fundraising dinners. 

Among these initiatives, one that stands out is the Tri-Society Blood Drive: a competition between student societies to see which group can make the most blood, plasma, or platelet donations. Even small donations make a real difference, and efforts like this bring the campus community together.

The University’s 2022 Impact of Giving report features various philanthropic programs and highlights how donations fuel innovation, promote equity, and enhance education at the University and beyond. It outlines the tangible benefits of philanthropy, from fostering academic excellence to driving societal change.

As we continue to foster this culture of giving, the collective efforts of our community contribute to positive transformations in our University, and in the broader global context.
