Vignette 17: Our most loyal supporters - our alumni

Our University boasts a global community of over 160,000 graduates from more than 150 countries. The year 2023’s inaugural Adelaide Alumni Cocktail Reception brought together almost 500 alumni from the University, spanning 50 years of graduating classes. The evening offered a unique opportunity for alumni to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate achievements. 

Our alumni are our ambassadors, carrying the essence of our institution into the world. Their professional achievements and personal successes serve as inspiration to current and prospective students. Their diverse experiences contribute to a rich, global network that benefits all members.

Importantly, alumni giving is essential to our University’s growth, success, and vitality. The generosity of this community drives academic excellence through scholarships, research funding, facility construction, events, mentorships, and career defining networking opportunities. 

These contributions are recognised through Australia Day and Queen’s and King’s Birthday Honours, the Nobel Prize, and Rhodes Scholarship awards. However, no series of honours could ever fully acknowledge the impact of our alumni on the University and society at large—nor the level of generosity.
