The UniSA Time Capsule was created to capture and preserve stories of the University of South Australia before the merger with the University of Adelaide to create Adelaide University. It brought together personal memories and official moments to reflect UniSA’s people, achievements and campus life across its 34-year history, as well as its antecedent institutions.
The project was sponsored by UniSA’s Chancellor, John Hill, and guided by a steering committee chaired by Distinguished Professor Marnie Hughes-Warrington AO. Launched in March 2025, the project ran throughout the final year of UniSA and was officially sealed in March 2026.
This digital project invited staff, students, alumni and the wider community to contribute their photos, videos, audio recordings and documents online to the UniSA Time Capsule. Capturing what UniSA meant to them – events and milestones, student life, research and teaching breakthroughs, clubs and communities, campus spaces, and everyday moments that might otherwise be lost. Contributions span different eras and UniSA campuses, and include both individual and shared experiences.
Submissions are now closed, but the collection remains available to explore. Discover memories, milestones and everyday moments from across UniSA’s history through searching or browsing The Time Capsule collection. It serves as an enduring record of UniSA and the community that shaped it, and provides context for the items you will see throughout this collection.
The UniSA Time Capsule is now closed and the transition to Adelaide Connect has begun.
