THE UNIVERSITY or ADELAIDE was established by Act of
Parliament[...]hroughout the British Empire as if granted by any
University in the United Kingdomi

The University uwes ita origin to the munificence and public
sp[...]ade in the Act of Incorporatinn ( ”The
Adelaide University Act, 1874”) for an annual grant from the
public[...]1
funds then or afterwards to he possessed by the University, hut
not exceeding in any one year the sum of £1[...]e acres in the City of Adelaide as a site for the
University buildings were provided for.

The University grants degrees in Arts, Science, Law, Medicine,
a[...]ng Engineering
and Metallurgy.

1t was the first University in Australia to pruvide [or the
granting of degre[...]880.

At first the Professorships founded in the University were four
in number, their subjects being[...]
[...]ted by examination since the
establishment of the University is 265. The number of under-
graduates in the yea[...]n 1902 there were 286. The teaching stail' oi the University
comprises 9 Professors and 19 Lecturers, and that of the Elder
Coneervatorinm 12 Teachers.

Facilities for University examinations have been extended to
the country, a[...]been given in country centres, as well as at the
University.

endow on University at Adelaide, open to all classes and denomination[...]endowment of two chairs or professorships of such University, upon
terms and conditions contained in a certain[...]ation formed for the purpose of
establishing such University, a copy of which said Indenture is Set forth

CONFER DEGREES IN SURGERY.
