PREFACE.

THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE was established by Act uf

Parliament[...]roughout the British
Empire, as if granted by any University in the United Kingdom. An
additional Royal Charle[...]nncring. and Bachelor and MudtPr m'
Surgen'.

The University owes its origin to the munilicence and public spi[...]e per cent. on (he cnpilal funds
possessed by the University. but not to exceed in nny one year the sum
of £1[...]e ncres in the City of Adelaide as n silo
for the UniversityUniversity the Government, in 1920,
provided an additional g[...]the departments of Physics and Engineering.

UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE ACT, 1935.[...]n Act to consolidate ce1tain Acts relating to the University of Adel&ide
(Assented to 5th[...]Short Title.
1. This Act may be cited as the "University of Adelaide Act, 1935."

Act[...]intended-
" Council " means the Council of the University of Adelaide;
"Senate " means the Senate of the University of Adelaide;
" University" means the University of Adeln.ide .
Incorporation and Continuance of University.
4. (1) The University established at Adelaide pursuant to The Adelaide
University Act is hereby continued.
(2) The University shall consist oi a Council and a Senate.
(3) The University shall be a body politic and corporate by the
name of "The University of Adelaide " and by that n-ame-

also any other lands, buildin[...]real or personal property belonging to the University;

Regulations of the University made previously to his flection.

(a) of all graduates admitted by the University to any of the

by Statute or Regulation of the stat[...]tor; and
(c) of all other graduates of the University of three years' standing.
(2) A graduate of another university admitted to a degree in the
University of Adelaide shall reckon his standing from the date of his
gr~nuation in such other university.

17. The Council shall have full power to appo[...]cturers, examiners, officers, and servants of the University, and

the University and upon all candidates for degrees to be conferred by
the University, and upon all professors, lecturers, examiners, officers,
graduates, diploma-holders, and servants of the University, and upon all
students of the University.
Power to Confer Degrees.
19. (1) The University shall have power to confer upon any person

(2) The University shall have power, without examination, but in

to degrees which the University has power to confer, persons who havP

22. The Governor shall be the Visitor of the University, and shall l1ave

Annual Grant to University.
24. (1) There shall be paid to the University every year out of the
general revenue of the Stat[...]d pounds contributed to
the University by Walter Watson Hughes, pursuant[...]en to and in-
vested by the University upon trusts for the purposes
of the University; and
(c) the value of property, real or personal, of the University
or vested in or held by trustees for the purposes of
the University, except the real property granted to the
University in pursuance of section 16 of The Adelaide
University Act, and of The University Site Act, 1876;

(a) for maintaining the University;
(b) for paying the salaries of the profess[...]miners,
officers, and servants of the University;
(c) for defraying the expense of fellowshi[...]the encouragement of students iu

ment of the University.

Conditions of Grant.
