Dr Hynd joined the University of Adelaide in 2000 as Professor of Animal Science.  Moved the Department of Animal Science from the Waite to the Roseworthy Campus.

Subsequently became deputy head of the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences and deputy dean of Roseworthy Campus, University of Adelaide.  Retired in 2018.
