Type of PlaceBuildingLocationNorth Terrace CampusUnique IDUA-00007150Date1922Description
After WWI the University received a gift of £15,000 from the family of John Darling, founder of the stock and station firm, to be used for the construction of a pre-clinical medical school (they also funded the building of the Darling Laboratories, second stage of the main administrative building at the Waite Agricultural Research Institute).
It was the first building designed for the University by Walter H Bagot, who worked on the design in close collaboration with Prof Thorburn Brailsford Robertson, later Foundation Professor of Physiology and Biochemistry at the University. In accordance with current policy, it was constructed of red brick, giving the university a uniform look. In its early years it accommodated histology, pharmacy, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, zoology, pathology and the medical library. Today it accommodates biochemistry.
