Randolph Isham Stow
Randolph Isham Stow was born on 17 December 1828 at Framlingham, Suffolk, England.[1] Randolph arrived in Adelaide with his father in 1842, where he later articled with the legal firm of Bartley and Bakewell.[2] Alongside Talbot Baines Bruce and Frederick Ayers, he established a legal firm, ‘Stow, Bruce & Ayers’.[3]
In 1865, Randolph became a Queen’s Counsel.[4] He was also heavily involved in politics and was appointed Attorney-General in three ministries.[5]
Randolph was made a judge of the Supreme Court in 1875.[6]
Randolph was a member of the first University Council,[7] before his death on 17 September 1878.[8]
After his death, funds were raised by public subscription to provide annual Stow prizes and for the Bachelor of Laws course at the University of Adelaide.[9]
