George Francis Davies was born on 2 June 1890 at East Adelaide (St Peters), South Australia.
He attended Unley Public School and the Pupil Teachers' School before being employed in the State Public Service.
Over the next ten years he studied part-time at the School of Mines and Industry and also studied some Arts subjects at the University of Adelaide.
While studying at the University of Adelaide Frank played for the Adelaide University Cricket Club (1913/14 and 1914/15 seasons).
On 5 February 1915, Frank enlisted and was attached to the 27th battalion.
After fightng in Gallipoli and Eygpt, Frank then served in France. In early September 2016 he was promoted to Lance Corporal.
Frank was killed in action on 8 August 1916 after suffering from severe shrapnel wounds on 5 August.
