Boxed beam balance - 'standard for school laboratories'.
Box has two front opening doors. Label on left hand side door has lable attached 'Instructions for erection of Microid Balances'. Wooden base of balance has levelling devices (turnable wheels) in brass.
A box of metric weights (serial no 446-21), gifted by Graham Jackson, may belong to this balance. The weights were made by Griffin & Tatlock Ltd, London. There is a 'works certifacte of test' dated 23 July 1946 with them.
'Suggest the weights were acquired by microbiology, Brian gave it to me, in workshop for years' - note on Information Sheet 265 in blue binder. The weights were listed by Pamela Runge 3 Jan 1986, and as being located in the Curators Office.
